MILWAUKEE, Wis. – ASQ (American Society for Quality) has announced the opening of its new office in Mexico City, Mexico. By establishing greater visibility in Mexico, ASQ hopes to increase the use and impact of quality in response to the diverse needs of Mexico.
With ASQ’s presence in Mexico, ASQ will engage, participate and contribute to key national and local state forums, seminars and conferences, specifically to increase awareness of quality methodologies.
“We believe a commitment to quality, business excellence and social responsibility has become a universal principle and that the world is coming together to advance these concepts,” said Robert Chalker, ASQ Global managing director. “ASQ hopes to provide the forum where this can occur.”
The Mexico office will have two staff members, with plans for future expansion. Staff members include María Elena Robles, ASQ Mexico general manager and Eduardo Amaro, manager of excellence programs.
“Establishing a presence in Mexico is in line with our vision to make quality a global priority,” said Roberto Saco, ASQ president. “Sharing ASQ’s QBOK® (Quality Body of Knowledge) will encourage businesses to produce quality goods and services.”
To celebrate, a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held this fall. Local ASQ members, government officials, quality organizations and businesses and the media will be invited.
ASQ is one of the professional associations of choice for quality experts in Mexico. The need for quality standards exists internationally—as a result, ASQ is growing rapidly in Mexico, currently offering five local sections and five student branches and more than 600 members across the country. ASQ offers many training and certification opportunities in Mexico as well. Find more information about ASQ’s activities in Mexico at www.asq.org/global/countries/mexico.html.
