Aseptia entered the 2015 Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) Annual Meeting & Food Expo as the recipient of two industry awards and departed the mid-July event with a third prestigious accolade, a 2015 IFT Food Expo Innovation Award.
The award recognizes the North Carolina company for its patented AseptiWave preservation technology, which utilizes microwave-assisted thermal processing to deliver quality – flavor, nutrient, color and aroma retention as well as shelf life of 12 months or more – for aseptically packaged foods and beverages.
“We knew we had a groundbreaking technology as we introduced AseptiWave to the marketplace,” said Aseptia CEO David Clark, “but receiving industry recognition as an innovative process helps validate this advancement and its place within the ever-changing food landscape.”
Aseptia also received the IFT Food Technology Industrial Achievement Award as well as its Industrial Scientist Award – honoring Aseptia scientist Dr. Pablo Coronel – at the onset of the IFT Annual Meeting.
Annually, the Innovation Award recognizes “outstanding innovation in products, ingredients, technologies, instrumentation, equipment and services that were commercially introduced since January 1st of 2014,” said IFT President-Elect Colin Dennis. A juried panel from industry, academia and government with broad expertise selected four companies and their innovations for the award. Judging criteria included degree of innovation, scientific merit, technical advancement and benefits to food manufacturers and consumers.
