ST. PAUL, Minn. - 3M Food Safety announced the launch of its new Listeria monocytogenes assay for its Molecular Detection System. This is the fourth test available for the system, which provides simple testing for dangerous pathogens in a variety of food matricies, 3M said.
The 3M Molecular Detection Assays use isothermal amplification of nucleic acid sequences, plus bioluminescence to detect the amplification. Presumptive positive results are delivered in real-time while negative results are displayed after the assay is completed. The system is an innovative solution that is fast, cost-effective and easy to use, the company reports.
"Listeria monocytogenes is a highly dangerous pathogen that remains a serious concern in the food processing industry, so we are pleased to offer such a simple and reliable solution for detecting it,” said Niki Montgomery, global marketing and development manager for 3M Food Safety.
