WASHINGTON, D.C. — The issue of safety and security of the global food chain will be the main topic of conversation as 1,500 food processing, retail, foodservice, academic, military and government professionals attend the 10th Annual Food Safety & Security Summit taking place this week at the Washington, DC Convention Center.
The summit will feature keynote presentations by Rick Frazier, leader of Coca Cola Company’s Technical Stewardship functions; Richard Rivera, chairman of the board of the National Restaurant Association and Dr. David Acheson, M.D., F.R.C.P, Assistant Commissioner of Food Protection for the FDA.
New on the show floor in 2008 is the Posters & Papers Research Program. Scientists in Industry, Academia, and Government, have submitted their important scientific findings and they will be displayed throughout the Summit in the Exhibit Hall.
More than 70 speakers from such household name food companies as Coca-Cola Company, Burger King Corporation, Walt Disney World, Kraft Foods, McDonald’s, ConAgra Foods, and several leading associations including the Grocery Manufacturers Association, the International Dairy Foods Association and the National Restaurant Association will present at the conference, as well as leaders from academia from such prestigious universities as North Carolina State, Georgia, Kansas State, Colorado State, Auburn, and Michigan State.
