Leading Resources at Your Fingertips

As in virtually all industries today, technology is winding its way through the food chain, streaming innovation as well as regulation as it flows. Such advances are evidenced by the integration of technology noted in articles throughout this issue:

  • McCormick’s advanced analytical laboratory has the capability of verifying country of origin. (page 10)
  • The dairy industry is working a number of sustainability initiatives, including CIP advances to maintain sanitation standards at lower temperatures. (page 28)
  • With consumer, regulatory and industry focus on food safety continuing to increase, electronic traceability systems are becoming mandated, rather than voluntary. (page 60)
  • New products are continually being brought to market to help plant managers and line workers do their jobs better, faster or more effectively. (page 64)

In the same mode, QA Media Group continually strives to provide the industry with valuable information and resources, and works to stay at the forefront of technology. As such, we are pleased to announce the launch of our redesigned Website, www.qualityassurancemag.com.

The site, described in more detail in our Technology department (page 4), continues to bring you all the resources previously offered, but we’ve made the site easier to navigate and added a number of features designed to bring additional value each time you visit our site.

You will notice that a few of the new areas are yet to be highly populated. This is where you come in! QA now has extended opportunities for interactive networking, including a forum on which to discuss industry issues; a multimedia area to which you can contribute video, podcasts and even Youtubes; and an experts’ insights section for which we’d love to consider your submissions or ideas.

As is concluded in the article on global traceability (page 60), an electronic tracking system is no longer just a "nice to have." We feel the same way about technology in general and the ever-growing desire and need for digital media. It’s not just a nice to have. Rather, to help keep education, information and resources at your fingertips, it has to happen. QA Media Group is dedicated to fulfilling that need for you.
