Report Profiles 21 Organizations Transforming Food Systems

“Beacons of Hope” showcase accelerating transformations to sustainable food systems.

Following the recent IPCC report on Climate Change and Land, Foodtank discusses a new Future of Food report, “Beacons of Hope: Accelerating Transformations to Sustainable Food Systems,” which showcases 21 initiatives that are working in diverse ways to achieve sustainable, equitable, and secure food systems.

Co-authored with Biovision Foundation for Ecological Development, each Beacon of Hope detailed in the report contributes solutions to global issues—from climate emergency and migration to urbanization and the need for healthier and more sustainable diets—evidencing that transformation is possible and point clearly to the nature–and people–based solutions available to us, the Foodtank article states.

The Beacons of Hope initiative aims to amplify the power of transforming food systems to address critical global issues such as climate change, biodiversity, equity, and health. Each Beacon of Hope is regenerating landscapes, enhancing livelihoods, restoring people’s health and wellbeing, reconnecting with Indigenous and cultural knowledge to achieve a resilient, sustainable food future.

The report also features a toolkit and presents 10 key messages to summarize the main findings of the research and point to next steps.
